Stormwater Pollution Prevention
When it rains, it pours- motor oil, fertilizer, pet wastes, and other pollutants end up in the stormwater runoff that goes down the storm drains. Unlike the wastewater that comes from our homes, stormwater runoff does not receive treatment before it enters larger waterways. That’s why it’s important to dispose of oil properly and to use garden chemicals in accordance with their labels.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
The Community Services and Development Department is responsible for administering the City’s stormwater permit with the TCEQ.
This permit details the steps the city will take to help prevent and mitigate the impact non-point source pollutants have on our receiving waters. For any questions on stormwater prevention, please contact Community Services and Development at 254-772-4050.
