Sewer Averaging
Sewer Averaging occurs every year in April. Water consumption from December and January (reflected in the February and March bills) is used to calculate the average monthly sewer cost.
December and January consumption is averaged together. Take this amount, divide by 1,000, since we charge per 1,000 gallons, and multiply that number by the usage rate of $3.62. Add the base rate of $30.14, and that is your sewer rate for the year.
Example: Your December consumption was 3,000 gallons and January’s was 3,800 gallons. Averaged together is 3,400 gallons. Your usage rate would be $12.31. Added to the base rate of $30.14, your new monthly sewer rate would be $42.45
The new sewer rate is reflected in April’s bill through March’s bill of the following year. Below is a table showing read dates by route.
